junior olympics

Saturday, June 2, 2018
Foothill College | 8am to 4pm

Bullis Charter School will be hosting this exciting event with other local charter schools on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at the Foothill College Track in Los Altos Hills, CA. Eleven years ago, BCS initiated this bi-annual event as a way for K-8 charter school students and families from across Santa Clara County to celebrate education and community.

Seeking to echo the traditions of the International Olympic Games, students from each participating school play a role in an opening ceremony. The ceremony includes a performance of the National Anthem, the entrance of the students to the field with a banner representing each school, the torch passing between the schools, and the choreographed rhythmic gymnastics routine.

The program features track and field events such as relay running, track, broad jump, shot put and javelin. Lower grade events include the egg and spoon race, beanbag toss, soccer kick and basketball shootout. Within the spirit of fellowship, event participants exchange their school colored bracelets with one another.

This celebratory event is an opportunity for students, parents, and teachers in the charter school community to connect in friendship.
