Superintendent's
Welcome
Family-founded, free, and public Bullis Charter School (BCS) has been innovating education since 2004. At BCS we believe that when children actively participate in the learning cycle not only do they grow substantially in what they learn, they find joy.
Our program is intentionally designed to offer each learner a meaningful and challenging educational experience. We give students voice, agency, and ownership. They are involved and invested in their own personal, social-emotional, and academic goal-setting.
Bullis Charter School serves a richly diverse community of families. More than 32 languages are spoken in our homes. We reflect the cultures of our learners in our classrooms and through our curriculum as well as with events throughout the year that celebrate each member of the school population.
We expect positive collaboration at BCS that supports each student’s lifelong journey and love of learning. This includes home-to-school, staff-to-staff. staff-to-learner, and learner-to-learner relationships.
Our faculty and staff are truly extraordinary. Their commitment to teaching our learners shows not only in their presentation of material, but in their devotion to assuring that each student here is known, cared for, and respected.
BCS is locally and globally minded. Our middle school Intersession uses design thinking to identify and address a need within our geographic region. We teach environmental literacy and awareness as an investment in supporting the entire ecosystem. We teach World Languages beginning with our youngest learners in TK through 8th grade because these are the individuals who will grow to be leaders throughout the world. Already, BCS alumni are working in the fields of medicine, technology, law, and politics.
As our world becomes more interconnected BCS students are learning appropriate uses of technology to make it more accessible. Along with other future ready skills, they study coding and design thinking as means to problem-solving.
What makes Bullis Charter School truly unique is how we are evolving with the world around us. BCS has been innovating education since 2004. As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we continue to evaluate and expand our approach to learning recognizing that we are preparing our students for the increasingly complex years ahead. I invite you to learn more about the BCS innovative education here on our website.
